Huawei Mate 20 Pro Review: Counting the reasons why we are loving it!

It was the Huawei Mate 9 Pro when the Mummy, me, got converted to a fan and dedicated user for the Huawei mobile phones. After the 9, I wanted the husband to take more photos of the family too, so I bought us each a Huawei Mate 10 Pro last Christmas in 2017.

A year later, before the Huawei Mate 20 Pro hit our shore, I needed to get a new phone with the change of service provider as I didn't want to waste the chance of getting a phone at subscriber's price, so I switched to the much hyped about Samsung Note 9 and in less than 3 months, I couldn't hold the temptation and returned to being a user of Huawei. The Leica cameras on the Huawei phones are just soooo soooo awesome!

Transiting from the Mate 9 Pro to the Mate 20 Pro, I've seen the evolution and improvement and now the phone is all I need for photos, videos and daily communication needs.

Everyone who has seen me using the phone and saw what it is capable of, they are all itching to get one too, and a few I know eventually jumped ship from Apple to Huawei Mate 20 Pro, cos its really just too good la. Let me count and share my personal love for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and if you are reading this and is on the same page as me too, drop comments will ya? There's no disclaimer for this cos no one is giving me any benefits nor monies for this review. I am just really in awe and want to share.

#1 Loving The Wide Angle

No need to stand on chair for a shot like this

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes with 3 lenses and one of which allows you to zoom out of your standard shot, giving you wide angle view. And this was the main reason why I switched. I can now take photos of the entire living room or hotel room for our staycations. And with the wide angle lens, taking videos of the kids in action is so much better as I can stay close yet capture all the actions. Save me from carrying around an action cam when we travel.

Full view of our living room, loving it! (Ideal for property agents I think! ha!)

#2 The Long Lasting Battery

Never had I required a charge in the day UNLESS I forget to charge it the night before. The full battery last through my day no matter how much I abused it. Camera, photo editing, mindless scrolling through IG/ FB, Netflix, Spotify, emails... on a daily basis.

#3 Master AI is truly Intelligent

Blue sky, greenery, portrait, food, text, dog and even bicycle and more. The Master AI identifies the object you're pointing to and gives you an optimised shot. Some I like but some irritate me a little, good thing this option can be switched off in-camera setting if you want to.

A shot like this would have failed if shot with other phone or maybe even a point-and-shoot due to the backlight coming from behind the kids. But this, taken with the Mate 20 Pro is thumbs up! Similar to the shot below, which detects the blue sky and giving a balanced and great shot.

#4 Slim, Light and Shiny

It fits into my pockets even in my tightest jeans. So ya.

#5 Speed that Keeps Up with My Usage

I abuse my tech on a daily basis, loading it with tons of photos/ videos, having multiple apps open at the same time and toggling between them at random fast speed. So far, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro hasn't disappointed me with any sign of slowness.

#6 I Ditched My Cameras

Slightly less than a month using the Mate 20 Pro, I sold off my cameras because I don't want it to sit at home collecting dust. Now I shoot solely with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro for fun, work and more. Though it is still not 100% perfect, it's sufficient for now... till my hands get itchy for a faster camera, which I think so far no mobile phone camera can perform up to standard. By fast, I mean capturing moving objects, especially during low-light shots.

Bonus: A Fun Camera too!

We're also loving the different shots in the portrait mode that gives us options to take shots like these...

Fun with the different portrait lightings effect on the #huaweimate20pro with the expressive #zara?? ?
